I certainly share your enthusiasm, interest, and dream of possibly owning a part of a wonderful tropical island paradise. After all, that is exactly what made me decide to move to Key West. For me, every day is an adventure here in Key West. I found the delightful tropical climate, crystal blue waters, amazing fishing and water sports, lush tropical vegetation, wide variety of cultural activities, fascinating history, and the laid back quirky city life of Key West, completely irresistible. To be honest, moving here and owning a piece of paradise was the best decision in my life. It was my personal dream comes true.
Sunset Key Island is by far the premiere development in Key West. Here you can experience the ultimate in island living. Peace and tranquility abound in this luxury tropical island paradise. Just imagine a place with no parking problems and no traffic; quiet strolls on spectacular beaches within walking distance to your home; breathtaking vistas across the water from every home; lush tropical landscaping and flowering plants in every direction; all this and still only a short 3 minute cruise from historic Downtown Key West on the Sunset Key Island Ferry which runs 24 hours a day. Isn’t this is what we all envision when we make the decision to purchase an island home in paradise!

as one spectacular event, with nearly 100,000 visitors coming to our island. We also enjoy one of the largest Parrot Head conventions (for the Jimmy Buffet Fans), the incredible International Power Boat races, and the Acura Sailing Regatta week. These are only a few of the almost endless number of exciting events that make Key West a wonderful and fun place to live and vacation. With all these visitors, Key West can sometimes be very busy place. For the residents and their guests on Sunset Key, the peace and quiet is constant, while the fun and festivities are only a short three minute boat ride away.
Not only is Sunset Key a great place to live and stay, but its investment potential is hard to beat. Having a nearly 50% annual appreciation seems hard to imagine for many people, but it certainly can be proven with all the comparable sales and appraisals. Prices range from at $1,700,000 to $4,900,000 for available vacant lots, and $1,850,000 and up for existing homes. Even with a slow national real estate market, according to the Monroe County Property Appraiser’s office, Sunset Key Island was the only area in Key West that actually appreciated in value in 2007. 
Rental Houses are available, but we only have a select few on the island. These homes are available for monthly rental, and rents start at about $8,000+ per month off season, to $13,200+ per month during season. Rates are dependent on the size of the house, and the intent of the individual homeowners. Only a few are available for rent, so call in advance for availability and prices.
I’ve had several people inquire about hurricanes and their effect on Sunset Key Island, and the news is great. After Sunset Key was developed, its elevation was left higher than 95% of all of Key West. As a result, Sunset Key Island has had no flooding whatsoever. In addition, since all the homes and structures are recently built, they comply with the current strict building codes, requiring them to be built to withstand very strong hurricane force winds. Other than some small downed tree limbs, there has never been significant wind damage to any of the houses on the island. Due to these factors, Sunset Key Island homeowners enjoy preferred insurance rates. Key West has been settled since the early 1800’s, and before that it was popular as a pirate refuge. This is a city where real estate titles date back to the Kings of Spain. Key West is still doing great, with most of the original homes still standing strong. In many ways, Sunset Key is better off than most of Key West, so from the looks of it, Sunset Key is going to be a great place to live for many, many years to come.
